After being moored and motionless in Falmouth Harbour for over a year, Russian tycoon Andrew Guryev’s $120 million superyacht Alfa Nero is witnessing some fast-paced action. Hunted and seized by the FBI last year, the 267 feet long vessel with only a captain and a skeleton crew onboard for maintenance was recently boarded by the Antiguan military. Not leaving much to the imagination, the stateless superyacht looks well on its way to the auction or a new owner. The Antiguan Defense Force took over the luxury vessel and expedited its sale process.
A video shows the government officials taking possession of the Alfa Nero super yacht after the Port Authority seized the ship after releasing an international notice that expired without any owner coming forward to claim the vessel. Andrew Guryev’s lawyers had denied any connection with the boat, and the vessel was deemed abandoned and a hazard to the country’s economy, leading her on a new journey.

One may fret about the future of this abandoned ship, but the reality is a lot less bleak than we imagined. The stunning 279-foot Alfa Nero is not in distress but in demand! Port Manager Darwin Telemaque shared with ABS TV Antigua that he is receiving several offers for the Alfa Nero yacht as the auction draws closer. So far, more than 20 possible buyers have offered to buy the elegant Oceanco beauty.
Interested parties have also expressed a desire to buy the vessel outright. According to the chief of staff of the Prime Minister’s office, they have received bids as high as $72 million.
People from countries like France, Saudi Arabia, Monaco, New Zealand, and more are approaching port authorities with a keen interest in the ship. Darwin is confident when the auction ends, Alfa Nero will leave Falmouth Harbour with a new owner.
