NEW CHOPARD MANUFACTURE ULTRA-THIN WATCH L.U.C FLYING T TWIN

50-PIECE LIMITED EDITION WATCH IN ETHICAL WHITE GOLD

In its 25 years of existence, Chopard Manufacture has consistently demonstrated its persistent quest for innovation and excellence, vividly exemplified in the development of its mechanical self-winding flying tourbillon L.U.C Calibre 96.24-L. Since 2019, this movement has been powering a few limited series of the L.U.C watch collection with subtle interpretations intended for devotees of noble watchmaking. At just 3.30 mm thick, and equipped with Chopard Twin Technology, based on two stacked barrels and a 22-carat micro rotor, the L.U.C Calibre 96.24-L guarantees 65 hours of power reserve. Certified by the Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres – the ultimate guarantee of the focus on precision so important to Chopard – this exceptional calibre now powers the new ultra-thin L.U.C Flying T Twin watch in ethical white gold. In a further reminder of Chopard’s keen attention to detail, each component is adorned with Côtes de Genève.

EQUALLY BEAUTIFUL INSIDE AND OUT

One of the thinnest flying tourbillon watches on the market, the L.U.C Flying T Twin luxury watch is distinguished by its remarkable appearance. Equally beautiful inside and out and with its classically pure design, this exceptional timepiece features a blue dial obtained with galvanic treatment and graced with a hand-guilloché honeycomb pattern – a reference to Louis-Ulysse Chopard’s first logotype symbolising a beehive. A snailed motif adorns the chapter ring punctuated by understated rhodium-plated hour-markers. With a large-diameter opening at 6 o’clock offering a view right through the movement, the lightness of the flying tourbillon is used to create an effect of transparency and depth, while the small seconds hand appears above the tourbillon carriage. A hand-sewn blue alligator leather strap lined with cognac alligator leather sets the perfect finishing touch to the eye-catching aesthetic and technical prowess confirmed by the right to bear the prestigious Poinçon de Genève quality hallmark.

CHOPARD LAUNCHES EXCITING SUSTAINABLE LUXURY LINE CHOPARD BY BILUM

THE OBVIOUS WAY FORWARD

In 2013, Chopard embarked on its Journey to Sustainable Luxury, an ambitious long-term commitment driven by a sense of profound humility and dedicated to making a positive difference in the luxury business. With the objective of preventing a wide range of materials from going to waste, Chopard by Bilum fits perfectly with this philosophy. Within the partnership, fabric and paper used for an extensive range of purposes across the business, from advertising banners to coats, will be given a new lease on life in a stunning range of top-quality, on-trend “upcycled” creations sure to delight the hearts of Chopard aficionados and fashion-conscious eco-activists alike. Commenting on the partnership, Hélène de la Moureyre, founder of Bilum says: “Having the trust of a great luxury Maison is extremely precious because it proves that together we can change the rules of the game using an ancestral concept as the basis. To us, this represents the future.” For Chopard, with its keen commitment to sustainable luxury, the partnership is the obvious way forward.

ONE OF A KIND SUSTAINABLE LUXURY PIECES

Says Chopard Co-President and Artistic Director Caroline Scheufele,: “Sustainability is a moving target, it’s a Journey which never ends and we are delighted to be part of this exciting new partnership with Bilum, marking a new milestone in our Journey to Sustainable Luxury.”

Bilum draws its name from the word for traditional string bags made by hand in Papua New Guinea, and whose ancestral confection has grown richer over the years by using newly available materials such as fibres and synthetic strings or even fishing nets. Traditionally, each bilum was made and decorated by its owner depending on their personal taste and personality and could invoke admiration from the other villagers. In tune with this, Bilum – and now Chopard by Bilum – speaks to those looking for one-of-a-kind, original, iconic, or patrimonial pieces, all the while leaving a positive impact on earth.Operating from a studio in Choisy-le-Roi, seven kilometres from Paris, Bilum works with French artisans from seven workshops chosen for their quality and including a number of highly-qualified leather workers renowned for their remarkable craftsmanship. Four of the workshops are part of the ESAT and EA program (employment of the disabled and Adapted Establishment). Materials are selected for their design, graphics, technicality, rarity, their history or what they evoke: airbags, safety belts, giant advertising canvases, curtains from Parisian palace hotels, awning canvases and luxury furnishing fabrics, boat sails, life jackets and seat covers from trains and planes, uniforms, to name but a few.

Dior And UNESCO Pursue Commitment To Women’s Empowerment At UNESCO & Women@Dior Global Conference

DIOR AND UNESCO PURSUE COMMITMENT TO WOMEN’S EMPOWERMENT AT UNESCO & WOMEN@DIOR GLOBAL CONFERENCE

Dior and UNESCO came together with a single voice during the third UNESCO & Women@Dior Global Conference at UNESCO House in Paris. The event celebrates themes at the heart of the Women@Dior mentoring and educational program, created to help young women build a better future.

The agenda highlighted the program’s five core values – self-care and self-awareness, autonomy, inclusion, creativity and sustainable development – with workshops led by professionals and insights shared by engaged and inspiring women.

Chantal Gaemperlé (LVMH Group Executive Vice President Human Resources and Synergies), Emmanuelle Favre (Christian Dior Couture SVP Human Resources), Stefania Giannini (UNESCO Assistant Director-General for Education) and Dior Mentors and Mentees were joined by this edition’s guests of honor, singer-songwriter Imany and socially-committed Afghan photographer Fatimah Hossaini, as participants shared their visions and commitments for the emancipation of women.

An exceptional jury chaired by Dior Artistic Director Maria Grazia Chiuri also announced the winners of the Dream For Change Project. Part of the Women Leadership & Sustainability Education Program – the educational platform launched by Women@Dior last year – this initiative invites Mentees to support the empowerment of young girls at the local level to foster the emergence of talented women.

Launched in 2017, Women@Dior has already provided support for thousands of young women from 25 countries around the world studying at business, engineering, art and fashion schools.

The Women@Dior program carries on the longstanding engagement of the celebrated Paris fashion house. In 1955, Christian Dior spoke to over 4,000 students in the Grand Amphithéâtre of the Sorbonne. His remarks – a dialogue with French civilization professor Jacqueline de Menou – were followed by a fashion show.

A special replay of the conference has been posted on the Women@Dior platform.

Krug Studio, An Exclusive Multisensory Experience At The Samaritaine

KRUG STUDIO, AN EXCLUSIVE MULTISENSORY EXPERIENCE AT THE SAMARITAINE

Maison Krug has created a unique space for culinary experiences exclusively for the Voyage Samaritaine restaurant, inviting guests to discover exceptional pairings of music and food with Krug Champagne, bridging all the senses.

Krug has designed a private dining room fitted out like a music studio, nestled discreetly in the kitchens of the restaurant Voyage, a vibrant space for culinary experiences beneath the famed frescoes on the top floor of the Samaritaine, an icon of Art Nouveau and French art de vivre. Here, up to seven guests can enjoy a moment of pure epicurean delight, bridging gastronomy, music and champagne.

The experience begins with an intimate musical tasting, presenting the history and unique savoir-faire behind the Krug champagnes selected for the occasion. The tasting is a singular experience where each cuvée is paired with different melodies, enhanced by the superb acoustics created by Devialet.

The tasting can be followed by an equally exceptional lunch or dinner in a discreet room overlooking the kitchens of two-star chef and Meilleur Ouvrier de France Mathieu Viannay, along with Voyage Executive Chef Jimmy Elisabeth and Associate Chef Antony Dorland. The menu is a memorable immersive experience that discreetly awakens all the senses. Each trimester, the chef and his brigade conceive subtle and creative culinary offerings that pair perfectly with Krug Grande Cuvée 169ème Edition or Les Créations de 2006 (Krug 2006 and Krug Grande Cuvée 162ème Edition), each a distinctive celebration of the great 2006 vintage.

Krug Cellar Master Julie Cavil has worked closely with IRCAM, the French Institute for Acoustic and Musical Research, to pair champagnes with melodies and the tasting menu. The goal is to better understand how hearing, smell and taste interact. Each champagne can be perceived as a musical allegory to be savored thanks to exclusive menus with four or six compositions.

“Prestigious champagnes for exceptional moments” has always been the Krug promise. When Joseph Krug founded the Maison in 1843, his dream was to offer the very best champagne every year, regardless of year-to-year climate variations. More than 175 years after its first elixir was released, the Maison continues to fulfill this promise each year, creating the most generous expression of champagne with each new edition of Krug Grande Cuvée.

“My family has been defying conventions for centuries, which is why this non-conformist spirit lives on in everything we do today,” says Olivier Krug, the sixth generation of the Krug family to head the Maison.

Hennessy Presents Specially Commissioned Work By Jeremy Demester For New Barrel-making Workshop

HENNESSY PRESENTS SPECIALLY COMMISSIONED WORK BY JEREMY DEMESTER FOR NEW BARREL-MAKING WORKSHOP

Maison Hennessy is delighted to welcome “L’Ombre des Heures, Le Retable du Temps”, a work commissioned from artist Jeremy Demester specifically for the Atelier de Tonnellerie, Hennessy’s barrel-making workshop at its historic home in Cognac, in the Charente region.

The Hennessy Atelier de Tonnellerie, its barrel-making workshop, represents the passing on of ancestral savoir-faire.  Emblematic of Hennessy’s history and values, it embodies the cognac maker’s incomparable know-how and the hand-crafted intelligence behind making and conserving barrels of exceptional sizes in which eaux-de-vie are aged. For more than two centuries, the Maison’s coopers have passed on a love of skilled handiwork, knowledge of materials and skillful use of tools to craft barrels entirely by hand.

Reconnecting with the original barrel-making workshops, the new Atelier marks a return to the banks of the Charente river in the heart of Cognac, carrying on the sharing and perfection of remarkable savoir-faire centered on excellence. To celebrate this ethos, Hennessy commissioned a monumental work by artist  Jeremy Demester. Entitled “L’Ombre des Heures, le Retable du Temps” (The Shadow of the Hours, The Altarpiece of Time), the piece is above all the fruit of an encounter between artist and artisans around all that unites them – handmade craftsmanship, the mystery of materials and the changes imparted by time. Because they are the guardians responsible for passing on unique skills and intimate knowledge of materials, artisans nurture a deep and personal relationship with time.

The “Altarpiece” is an ideal pictorial embodiment of the cyclical movement of time. The enclosed piece reflects the transformations of light and harbors a mystery. The bronze frame –cast using the centuries-old lost wax method – reveals the infinite metamorphoses of wood that coopers know so well. Lauded for the vitality of his brushwork, Jeremy Demester has created a heady sensorial whirlwind within the “Altarpiece”. The complex harmony of colors seems to resonate with the rich substance as it ages in the barrels, infused with the aromas of wood and subtle atmospheric variations.

A silent witness to the activity of the workshop, the piece is both an inspiration and a companion for the artisans, bearing witness to the extended timeframes over which they pass on their craft. Coopers work the wood from tree to barrel in symbiosis with the elements – air, water and fire – in order to coax out exceptionally subtle savors. And like the artist, they cultivate precise gestures and sensorial immersion to create unique objects that will last through the ages.

For more than 250 years, Hennessy has been renowned the world over thanks to its exceptional savoir-faire. The barrel-making workshop and its “Altarpiece” reflect this expertise, and at the same time become a place for exchanges. The workshop will soon welcome visitors, enabling Hennessy to celebrate the passion of its artisans and their noble métier, along with the importance of the Maison’s contribution to the immaterial heritage of the region. The training of future master coopers merits a place matched to inspiration and emotion, and the installation of a striking work of art contributes to this approach. The “Altarpiece” imparts a historic dimension to the Atelier de Tonnellerie, celebrating its unique aura while creating a space for dialogue and sharing.

Aligned with the visionary spirit of its founder, Hennessy is synonymous with longevity thanks to a unique approach to passing on its savoir-faire across generations at every stage in the process of crafting exceptional cognacs. The presence of Jeremy Demester’s stunning work for the new Atelier de Tonnellerie reflects this ongoing endeavor, encouraging new generations of artisans in their meticulous quest for superb craft and excellence.

Jeremy Demester is a French-Gypsy painter. His practice is guided by a desire to explore the essence of travel in both mind and body, spanning a variety of media, from painting to bronze. He has been recognized with numerous awards, including accolades from the jury of the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts, the Prix des Amis des Beaux-Arts 2015 and the Prix Aurige Finance (2014 winner).
